Restaurants, Bars & Clubs
The marketing initiative for restaurants consists mainly of two facets. First, the presence of posters by the entrance as well as the hallway to the washrooms. Second, sticker advertising could be used on the check folders that the bill is presented to you in at the end of the meal. These ideas only apply to inexpensive establishments that students can afford to frequent. Due to the fact that most of these places are bar/pubs or fast food establishments, only the posters could really be a viable means of advertising. However, there are ways to make the bill initiative viable although in the end, would not necessarily garner the traffic needed to justify the effort given to make it succeed. All this being said, if a restaurant were to approach the property about such an initiative to draw its residents to the establishment this is a different story and it would be highly recommended to investigate.
Although bars and nightclubs could be a great place to post flyers or hand out advertisements, there is no guarantee that you will be targeting your market directly. Due to this, a vast amount of money and energy would be wasted on brochures and manpower. However, there is a flip side to this; if you happen to be sponsoring an event such as a special comedy act and promote your name in this fashion, you can offer some sort of giveaway. You can require certain information such as an e-mail address and use this as a means of building a database for future promotions, advertising or even surveys. The key component is not to be the provider of the alcohol but acknowledge this is the only type of venue you will be able to draw people to. Furthermore, you could throw out t-shirts advertising your property at this event and have walking billboards for the residence.
