Poster Advertising on Campus

Poster advertising on campus is typically at the sole discretion of the educational institution.  You should never bandit advertise on the institution’s property as you risk being banned from advertising with them permanently.  You must contact the appropriate committee or campus office and obtain approval.  Most of the time when posters are accepted from non-institutional sources there is a hanging fee and these posters are kept behind glass to guarantee their presence will be maintained.  They are never placed within the residences on campus but can be placed throughout the college where classes are held, student centers and study halls.

Ann Street Case Study

The University of Western Ontario has a generous amount of placement for poster advertising.  Although no placement is allowed in residences, where a vast amount of traffic could be generated, they did have 75 poster boards available.  The poster advertising campaign for Varsity Commons used the maximum placement possible for one company or event, which are 40.  The posters were slightly larger than the traditional 11”x17” so as to visually stand out amongst the other posters on the board.  These posters were hung during the months of January, February, March and April.
